"From Inception to Expansion"

"We are doing a lot of things. But if we could move into a center, we could have a much more expanded program. A community center is a whole different thing."
- Lorraine Danser, UCCYP - LI Newsday 5/19/95

Our organization has come a long way since those words were first uttered. Since then, we've expanded from our original location at 800 Jerusalem Avenue to include an adjacent location at 806 Jerusalem Avenue that doubled the space available to us. With that momentous milestone, not only have we been able to house several community agencies serving our youth, as well as providing meeting spaces to a variety of civic organizations; but we've succeeded in taking some necessary steps to realize our primary goal to provide a state-of-the-art building for our community needs.

As a part of the proposed A. Holly Patterson re-development at the "Senior Village at Patterson." John J. Byrne Community Center | UNIONDALE is ecstatic at the prospect of "partnering" with The Nassau Health Care Corporation's $1 billion community project. The corporation, in a series of community meetings, has made a promise to provide 5 acres of property on its campus, for the proposed site of a community center, along with a pledge of $2 million towards the development of the center.
